Annual Trip to Lewis Farm

We wanted to enjoy some time outside while the weather was warm, so we headed to Lewis Farm this past weekend. Sophie had fun petting and feeding animals, riding the train, and picking out a few pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. Ava came along of course, but is still a bit young to enjoy everything. I was so excited to go there and get a cute fall picture of the girls. But, OF COURSE, it's nearly impossible to get a good picture of them both looking and smiling at the camera. It was a fun weekend though!

Even Ava enjoyed a cookie.

My Little Girl....Literally!

Because of the cold weather we've had the past few days, I've been shopping for fall clothes for Sophie. She's been wearing 18-24 month all summer. I thought I would try the next size, so I went out and bought a 2T outfit for fall. And just as I thought, it was too big! Sophie will be 3 years old in December and still can't fit into a 2T. They are just way too long on her. On the growth chart, she's always been at about 10%, so she is in the normal range. We just have a super smart & funny girl, in a small package. She's our little doll.

Sophie's Toddler Bed

Jeremy and I bought Sophie a toddler bed yesterday. We even let her stay up an hour past her bedtime while he was putting it together. She was so excited to sleep in it. We still have to take apart her crib, so please excuse the messiness of the picture. We also thought it might be good to keep it there the first few nights, just in case she didn't adjust well to her new bed. Last night was her first night in it. She woke us up about 1am to go potty, and then went right back to bed. I also went online to look at toddler bedding and let Sophie pick her bedding out. She picked Dora. Of course I would have picked the lavendar gingham bedding, as it would have matched her room perfectly. But, oh well. The colors in the Dora bedding will match, too. I'm just not a big fan of character decor. But seeing Sophie excited makes us happy.

How could I forget THIS !?!

Sophie is potty trained! Sophie first used the potty November of 2007, then lost interest. I thought she was on her way to being potty trained again several months ago. She went like 4 days with only a couple accidents. But at that time we had her in pull-ups. Then she got sick and lost all interest, and has had little interest in using the potty ever since. Because she had done it before, I knew she could do it. So beginning last Friday, I said no more diapers (day or night), not even pull-ups. Friday and Saturday she went in her pants almost every time. Sunday she only had a couple accidents. And since then, she's only had one or two accidents. And believe it or not, she only wet the bed at night two times. I thought night time would be harder. So it does get better! You just have to be dedicated, and not go anywhere the first few days. And I think my big mistake in the past was using pull-ups. It gives them a crutch. My little piece of advice from what I've learned, if you're really serious about potty training, do it when you don't have to go anywhere for several days, put them in undies, and get out the mop! No more diapers for Sophie, yeah!

Bathtime, Ice Cream and more...

Both girls have been a little fussy lately, and waking up at night. They both have colds, and both are cutting teeth. Sophie's two year molars are coming in, and Ava has her 4th tooth coming in. Poor things!

Sophie had her first haircut in June, and I just realized I didn't post the pictures. I thought for sure she would want to sit on my lap, but she actually didn't mind sitting on her own. She wore the cape and everything. I had Amanda just trim the ends to even it up. So it only took 5-10 minutes. Sophie was so funny. She just sat there emotionless. I kept trying to get her to smile for the camera, but she wasn't having it. I think she was just taking it all in, as it was all new to her. Here are the pics I did manage to get.

Here are a couple pictures of Sophie in the midst of dancing. She loves to dance with mom and dad. And she especially likes to be held while dancing so she can be dipped.

The girls love bath time! Ava loves splashing in the water, and Sophie loves to splash Ava! Of course big sister always has to pick on litle sister. Sophie also loves to squeeze the rubber duck against her belly because it makes a farting sound. hehe.

Lily, a girl that lives across the street from us, was so nice to give Sophie her old princess backpack. Sophie was so excited and wanted to put it on right away. She said, "doesn't it look so pretty". It was very cute.

Jeremy took the girls for a really long walk to the old 7-Eleven (don't remember the new name). Sophie ate some ice cream on the way home, and hit a lemonade stand that some of the neighbor girls had. The girls wanted to know what happened to Sophie's face. By this time the ice cream had dried on her face. And Ava was entertained by carrying a pop bottle. So cute!

Not a whole lot has been going on the last few weeks. Jeremy is taking a few vacation days next week. We are going to the zoo one day and Michigan's Adventure another day. And we will probably spend the weekend up at my parent's cabin. So I should have some more updates after that. Here are some random photos from the past few weeks.

Hmmm... I'm thinking.

Happy 4th of July!

We've had a lot of busy days. I've been taking the girls to the beach twice a week, at least. Sophie loves walking in the water and playing in the sand. The water is still really cold. So she hasn't done much swimming just yet. Jeremy and I took them to Crazy Bounce last week. That was fun, too. My aunt, cousin, and her two kids are in town over the holiday from Colorado. We went to the carnival yesterday, and just got back from the beach. Sophie and Ava fell asleep on the way home. And it's only a 5-10 minute drive, that's how tired they were. So I thought I would take this opportunity while they're sleeping to post some pictures from the past few weeks, and today. So here they are. Enjoy.
